Western Michigan football coach Bill Cubit joined Bill Simonson on “The Huge Show” to discuss his 2009 recruiting class.
Cubit said, “We got some big insided guys in James Sandlin and David Box.” “We’re always looking for some defensive ends with some range, and we’ve got guys from 6-foot-4 to 6-foot-6 out there, and we’ve got some big receivers,” Cubit said. “I just feel good about the quality. I think the biggest thing when you get your class is you’ve got guys who want to be at Western Michigan.”
As for impact players Cubit said, “James Sandlin with David Box give us big guys upfront to help us out.”

Matt Sandlin, Patriots’ 6-foot-4 junior quarterback, compiled a highlight reel of incredible throws, displaying an entire arsenal of passes to lead ACA to a 42-6 victory over Hale County. Sandlin lived up to the pedigree of quarterbacks that ACA has a tradition of producing, with Chris Smelley currently starting for South Carolina and his brother Brad Smelley on scholarship at the University of Alabama.

No. 3 American Christian Academy (ACA) on Friday night displayed an offense that was too powerful for homestanding No. 10 Isabella. The Patriots (4-0) racked up 584 yards of total offense. ACA Junior quarterback Matt Sandlin 6-4, 207, threw for 322 yards and three touchdowns as the Patriots overwhelmed Isabella 49-7 on Friday in a Region 4 game.

Quarterback Matt Sandlin, 6-4, 207, created havoc for the Keith Bears defense in the first round of the playoffs. From Sandlin’s first drive, the junior quarterback led the Patriots on a scoring drive with an assortment of short passes. Coach Stephen Hooks called several of bootlegs and play-action passes to keep Sandlin on the move and the Bears secondary off balance. In three quarters of action, Sandlin finished 12 of 17 for 274 yards and two touchdowns.

Matt Sandlin, Patriots’ 6-foot-4 junior quarterback, wasted no time in getting to the end zone, driving the ball 60 yards down the field within the first 2 minutes connecting with Steadman Shealy on a 6 yd touchdown pass on the first possession. Sandlin had an impressive game completing 12-of-16 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns. He ran for a five-yard touchdown in a win over Aliceville.
